Video
Well i just finished viewing the video. It had alot of interesting points. I do feel that most institutions just go through the motions. You just sit in the same class for 2 or 3 days a week, take notes, and then take test. I am not sure how this prepares people for anything. I believe that if you are receiving an education it should be hands on. I have always wanted to be a teacher, and wasnt sent into the field until I was a junior at the college that I graduated from. I would have hated to think that I wasted three years of college and then decided I didnt want to become a teacher after I have experienced it. I attended a private college my first year and we were sent out into the field to experience and get hands on what is was actually like to be a teacher in the real world. I think you can sit in a classroom all day long and take notes and not learn a thing. I have sat through alot of classes and I couldnt tell you have of the stuff that I learned. The only problem I see without having some kind of education or degree is that you cant good a job. Most companies require their employees to have some kind of education. It isnt like when my parents came through high school and were deciding about college, they could find decent jobs with good pay without having some form of education after high school. I do hear people say college is so expensive. There are plenty of ways to get your college paid for. There are grants, scholarships, and even loans. But I know people dont want to be in debt their whole lives because of college. If you graduate with a teaching degree and teach in a low socioeconomic school for 5 years there is a place that will pick up your loans. I am paying more for my masters than I did for the 5 years to get my undergraduate degree. Yes I know I will get a pay raise but I also have to pay for it. I dont think college is for everyone but you need to have some kind of training or schooling to get a good job, that you will be able to provide for yourself and not struggle with the day to day necessities.

Tiny URL
http://tiny.cc/h0x2zv6mf3
I made my blog address into a tiny url. I had no idea you could do this and I will be using it for the websites that I use all the time in my classroom. Everyday we use at least two website to complete assigments. This will help me remember the short url because I am always having trouble remembering the whole url.

Batchgeo
Using these type of features that are offered really has us as technology users has really improved our skills. I would have never used this and thought of this if not for this class. This is really nice tool to use when you are taking online classes and dont get to see the people in your class face to face. We are mostly located in this state but have one student from around the world. You could use this tool in your classroom as well. For example when we do flat stanley and he comes back from all the different places he come from, you could plug the address into the map so the students could see where all he has been. Good teaching tool.

Prezi
http://prezi.com/11gyybev6hqh/prezi/
I thought using prezi was more difficult than using powepoint. I guess because I am use to using powerpoint. I got a little bit frustrated with prezi because I was almost done and then it disappeared and I had to start all over. I think once you would get use to using it it would be alot easier, but im not sure I will ever use it again. I would say standard number two where the teachers presents a project and the students use technology to complete an assignment. Im sure that older student would be able to do this but not the grade that I teach.

Google Drawing Tool

https://docs1.google.com/drawings/edit?id=1O6i883t0PK73_Aj1qllu9nSZnlIln-IWiMtd8e5vB0o&hl=en
I really dont use drawing tools too often. The only other one I have used is paint. I know my students at school really like using paint. I would use the standard two for this activity. Teacher engages technology and students use it in the classroom. Im not sure my students could use the google drawing tool, but I could be wrong. I know they use paint so I guess one tool is better than none at all.

Glogster
http://krichards.glogster.com/glog/... Here is the link to my glogster. A glog is a social network to connect with people. This is a very fun thing to use. You can also design it how you like and upload all kinds of things. It reminds me alot of facebook and im sure it will be catching on soon. Im not real sure I could use this in my classroom because of the grader I teach. The upper grades, especially middle and high school kids could use this. I think they would really enjoy setting one up of their own. It meets standard 2 which focuses on bringing the technology into the classroom and untilizing it. The only problem I found was that my music didnt download that fast, but im sure that has something to do my internet. My video popped right up, but it took about 4 minutes for my music to appear in the box. I think it is very self explainatory and very user friendly.
Self Portrait
I really didnt have any trouble. I thought it was actually a good change a pace. They maybe could add a little more to their selections, but other than that, I didnt have any problems. I created my good looking self-portrait at http://www.picassohead.com/create.html.

After Learning Styles Test
Well I guess I was right on. I am a kinesthetic learner scoring 7 in that category, which was followed by 4 for aural, 3 for read/write, and 2 for visual. I definitely knew I wasnt a visual learner I have never been and probably never will be. I like to see a demonstration and then be able to perform it.
It is really important at the grade level I teach to be the type of learner I am. We do alot of hands on activities especially in math. We do some in reading but it is hard. Math is where we do our hands on learning. We just adopted a new math series this year and I really like it. I think the students are actually enjoying math because they are so involved.

Learning Styles Guess
I havent had alot of experience with learning styles. I do remember talking about it in one of my college classes but im not sure which one it was. I do know we didnt talk about for a long time. So I thought I would be a kinesthetic learner, aural learner and then read/write. I think kinesthetic first because I learn better when I can complete task that has been shown to me right there. I am a hands on learner. Well I guess I will take the test and find out for sure.
Voice Thread
I have never used voice thread until this activity. I thought looking and exploring the voice thread was interesting. I actually knew one of the people that created a thread. Her husband teaches at my local high school. I think it is a good way to find out and actually see who you are in class with exspecially when we are taking most of our classes online because of our busy lives. I think you could also use it with older kids and they could learn about all of their classmates.
I would say it meets standard number 2 which is design and develop digital-age learning experiences and assessments. With this tool you can teach your students to use it and interact and learn about each other. With this you could even talk to other students throughout the country or around the world. This is a very exciting tool to learn to use.

Google Profile

I chose http://supteach.blogspot.com/ because I was intrigued by the name. This blog has alot of good information that I can relate to. I will keep up with this blog to see what else it has to say. The second blog I chose was http://teachpaperless.blogspot.com/ because I think this is important. The grade I teach all I feel like we do is worksheet after worksheet after worksheet. I think eventually we will all be paperless. This would be good for everyone. It was save money and keep the environment going.

Diigo
http://www.diigo.com/network/krichards21
The only web browser that I usually use is Internet Explorer. I have really never thought about using anything else. I have firefox on my Mac at school and now on my home computer but dont really use it. I guess I am just really familiar with this one and I think once you get use to something you dont want to change. I know that change is not always a good thing, but I will try and look and use other types since they seem to be used more frequent by other people. Browser add ons are easily accessible, easy to install, and have a wide realm of uses (http://browsers.about.com/od/addonsplugi2/a/firefoxaddon.htm). I really havent had alot of experience with add ons. Im sure they are very useful and will look towards using them more often. I havent had alot of experience as I have mentioned but the one that I did install was very successful. I have a newer computer and I found it better than the past computers that I have had. I think this is the standard it meets: Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experinces and Assessments. With this standard the teacher can help the students use the technology more wide spread in the classroom and help them promote their creativity. The students will be able to find add ons that would be fit what they need for the classes that they are taking or things they enjoy to search (http://www.iste.org/Content/NavigationMenu/NETS/ForTeachers/2008Standards/NETS_for_Teachers_2008.htm).

Personality Test #2
Well I took the test and I guess I was right. I have an artisan type personality. I figured I would be just based on the hands on learning. As I teach my students everyday with different types of personalities, they all love hands on learning. I implement that everyday with our math. They are always more attentive when they get to use the stuff and actually put on display what they have learned and be able to see it for themselves. That is very important for students learning especially in the lower grades. Teacher and principals are always learning. I know my team of 1st grade teachers would rather do the job or whatever they have to do than sit there and listen to what is going on. They say teachers are the worse listeners and I believe it. Just these past couple of weeks we have learned so much with our new presentation stations. Our new computers have so much to offer and we were taught with the computers right in front of us, instead of just handing out papers and telling us how to do it. We were able to actually walk step by step through the processes.
Personality Test #1
I think I am an artisan, idealists, guradian, and then rational. I think artisan would best fit me because I am very outgoing, fun-loving, and I do better with jobs when they are hands on. I have always been a hands on learner. I guess the true test will see what I actually am.

Browser Wars
What is a web browser? It is a software application for retrieving, presenting, and traversing information resources on the world wide web.
List the most popular 4 web browsers currently? They are Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 8, and Internet Explorer 7.
What does the term "browser war" mean and what drives the competition between web browsers? It refers to competitions for dominance in usage share in the web browser marketplace and they want to prove that they are the best and are ahead of the competition.
What is the big deal in having the #1 browser? If you have the number one browser than you have succeed the other competition. You are ahead of the game and everyone involved as long as there are no glitches in the system that you are providing.

Introduction
Hi, my name is Karson Richards. I teach 1st grade and I am also the High School Softball Coach at my high school that I graduated from. We won the state softball championship this year. It was the first team title in school history (44 years) and the first softball title (30 years) in Harrison County. I am planning on graduating in December and I cant wait to be done.
Internet Test
My download speed was 1.01 Mbps and upload was 0.38 Mbps around 8:10 p.m. I will try tomorrow afternoon when I get home from work. If I have time I would like to check the speed at school, im sure it is alot faster.
I know we have our internet through Verizon. I know you can also get suddenlink, but I found there internet to be slower. My parents pay about $25.00 a month, that the perks of living at home. haha...
Ok I tried the test again about 7:20 and the speed was 1.02 Mbps and upload was still the same at 0.38 Mbps.
I also had some time at the end of the day today to see how fast the internet speed was at school on their server. It was 60.69 Mbps for downloading and 6.90 Mbps for uploading. I wish I could be on that network all the time.

I thought the activity was going to be alot harder than it actually was. I think when you see all the work that you have to do you stress level goes through the roof. Once I actually sat down and looked at what had to be done and started working on it, it wasnt too bad.

Graphic Description
I chose to use paint, because it is pretty easy to use. Im not a very good at drawing things so I thought it would be fun to use. It is saved under jpeg. and went into my pictures, so it was pretty easy to find. I know how to excel also, but thought it would be fun to use paint. My students at school use it and love it and I just wanted to see what all the fuss was all about. When you double you click on it, it should open in paint, or it might just open it up right there and make it bigger.
